What is Zumba®?
Zumba has been built on a foundation of latin music and dance. The dance moves are based on a variety of Latin styles including meringue, pop, reggaeton, cumbia, mambo, salsa, salsaton, flamenco, rumba, and calypso. Both slow and fast rhythms are involved so Zumba enthusiasts receive a variety to beat the boredom and increase agility and muscular involvement.

A ZUMBATOMIC® Class is packed full of energy, fun, games and an array of music that will make kids shake, wiggle and giggle while having a Party with their friends.
Who is Maxie?
I’m Machteld (Maxie) Stoelinga and I‘m a professional Dancer/Teacher/Choreographer. I completed my diploma of dance in 1981, through the Rotterdam Dance Academy in The Netherlands. I also did extended schooling in Jazz and Contemporary dance in Paris, Munich and New York. My passion for dance never left me and for some years I was teaching all kinds of classes all over the world.
I started my dance career as a tiny tutu, and I remember my first Ballet teacher as if it was today - as a very passionate, warm, beautiful energetic woman, who certainly has shown me the joy of being a dancer.
In my view it is very important that the tiny tutus of today are able to receive that experience as well. It is a beginning towards confidence and creativity.
My most recent experience was in India where I taught Indian tiny tutus, children, teenagers and adults the basic principles of classical ballet and Jazz dance as a support in the technique for the upcoming modern/funky version of the famous Bollywood dance style.
AND THAN ZUMBA®……
Two years ago I started Zumba® and got hooked to it. I became a licensed Zumba Instructor forZumba® Fitness, Zumba® Gold and Zumbatomic® for Kids.
The joy, the energy, the love and the courage that I can give to Zumba® fanatics and the opportunity to be able to briefly enter their world is just an amazing experience. The honesty, the enthusiasm, the creativity and their smiles when they get the touch of the move, is as an instructor, the true passion for the Zumba® moves.
